Baby B is here! Sophia Josephine!

I went into the hospital July 31st at 6pm. I went in for pre-eclampsia (all along i had PIH)- They did find protein traces and my bp was still super high 150s/90s. I did great on the cervadil and progressed to 3 cm on it w/o pitocin- They set me up with an epi around 3pm (Saturday, August 1st) and then gave me the pitocin about an hour later- They thought for sure that I was having this baby today.

After 5 cm and them breaking my water, I slowed down to 1cm every 3 hours, which apparently is really really slow (it's supposed to be 1 cm an hour)- I did make it up to 9cm and fully effaced! The nurses got the baby's bed all ready and prepped for delivery, until the docs disagreed on how far I was dialated- One doctor said I was 9 then the other said 7- the final concensus was that my cervix was swelling and the baby was not deceding into the birth canal easily- They thought she was too big to fit through my cervix. They said I can continue to labor since I was progressing, but just slowly, however, they said they would consider a c-section at this point. They gave me the facts about delivering a big baby through a small cervix (and after Hale's neuropsych class, I knew the damages that could do to learning and development!)

I felt constant pressure and was not feeling well- it was 3pm the next day after pitocin (Sunday, August 2nd) and after crazy epi shakes, hot flashes, cold sweats, throwing up every 5-10 minutes, I finally threw in the towel (i had been in hospital since Friday and it was now sunday with no baby)- I cried all the way to the operating room and while on the operating table.

But I ended up with a beautiful baby girl and looking back on it, I wouldn't have it any other way! I think I made the right choice to go ahead with the c-section. I don't regret a thing- just trust your gut with it!

July's Craziness

I was a swollen mess all of July. My face and entire body puffed up! My 26th birthday on July 30th, I had an appointment with the perinatologist (had them weekly at that point) and I was told that I needed to have the baby that day! My blood pressure was crazy high at 156/90. It was not that high two days ago! I was in shock and totally unprepared even though my due date was August 7th! I think the look of shock on my face and my begging the doctor to let me wait a day said it all. The doctor said I go to my OB the next day to get it re-checked but if it's high again, I will need to go straight to the hospital! I was relieved! I didn't want to spend my birthday in the hospital and I wanted each of us to have our "own" birthdays. AND the house was a wreck and we didn't even have the carseat installed! Y.I.K.E.S.

So, of course, the OB's office was closed, so I had to go to my primary doctor (which I still haven't changed and had to drive all the way to Medford from Cherry Hill). The were full that day and I had to beg them to let me come in for a bp check. I go their last appt for the day at 3:30. I am sweating like crazy and hurrying to get in because I am, naturally, late. All of that probably didn't help matters, because they checked my bp and it was out of control. Same as the day before! So, my primary had to call the hospital to let them know what was going on. I was told to come in. I called Sal at work, and said, "Are you ready to have a baby?" We met up at the house and I took my time packing. A.) because I was scared shitless, B.) because I had a ton of stuff still left to do and felt unsettled C.) I was hungry and wanted to make sure I ate before I got there and they make you starve (I know this because I have spent so many days at the hospital with this child already!) We got Chic-Fil-A and ate in the parking lot in the car. Pic of our new car above! We got to the hospital around 6pm finally! Here is also my last belly pic and the baby's room (still not totally completed but it's done for now!)

Continued...

I had my baby shower in June. My mom and sis were wonderful and threw me a shower. It poured that day! Here are some pics. It was at the Flying W. I am in the blue dress ;-)

ok..so it's been some time!

It was a crazy ride the past few months. I ended up having a complicated pregnancy. I was being monitored closely for pre-eclampsia signs and symptoms. I found out I was having a girl! I was in tears when I found out. Sal and I looked at each other and both of us were in tears! He said, "I knew it." We immediately began picking out baby names- some of them were Giuliana, Isabella, Gabriella, and Sophia. We finally decided on Sophia Josephine.
